ATM explodes in North Philadelphia, no money taken
Investigators are trying to find out what caused an ATM to explode in North Philadelphia.
Police say they were responding for a reported shooting Tuesday night around 9:20 p.m. in the city’s Hunting Park section. But when they arrived, Chief Inspector Scott Small says police found a badly damaged ATM, with pieces that had been thrown 50 to 100 feet.
Police say they found explosive residue on the ATM and determined that an explosive device was used. But they haven’t pinned down what it was.
Investigators say surveillance video shows two people approaching and fleeing moments before the explosion.
No money was taken.
No injuries were reported.
