AAA Mid-Atlantic: NJ gas prices rise again

Motorists are seeing higher prices at the pumps in New Jersey.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the state on Friday was $2, up 2 cents from last week. But that’s much lower than the price from a year ago, when motorists were paying $2.76.

A week ago prices rose 5 cents for a gallon of regular gas in the state.

The national average price on Friday was $2.19, down 3 cents from last week. But that’s much lower than the national average from a year ago, when motorists were paying $2.92.

Analysts say the price increases are due seasonal maintenance but that prices typically decline in November.

They say the refinery maintenance season should be done by Thanksgiving.
