90 year-old shore restaurant for sale

Residents and tourists alike have dined at the bright pink Ocean City restaurant since the 1920s. But the owners say it’s time for a change.

The Chatterbox located at the corner of 9th Street and Central Avenue is for sale.

“It’s time,” Owner Marie Repici told The Ocean City Gazette. “It’s been 42 years, 42 wonderful years, but it’s time for a change.”

But she says if the landmark doesn’t sell by next summer, the family is likely to open the iconic pink restaurant for the season.

The Repici family renovated the Chatterbox after it sustained damage from flooding during Hurricane Sandy. The property is not yet formally listed for sale.

“The restaurant has a wonderful history, but it’s time, time to move forward,” she told The Ocean City Gazette. “It’s time for another family to be a part of the history.”
