50-year-old woman surrenders after bank robbery
Police say a 50-year-old woman surrendered after allegedly trying to rob a First Niagara Bank in the Philadelphia suburbs.
The Doylestown Intelligencer reports that Francine M. Boettinger of Warminster walked into the bank on Saturday morning.
Boettinger allegedly gave a teller a demand note implying she had a weapon, and she was arrested 45 minutes later after a police negotiator talked her out of the bank. There were no injuries.
Police say Boettinger told them that she decided to rob a bank because of the stress and shame she felt from an unrelated matter, but no details were given.
Boettinger was unable to post $200,000 bond and is being held in the Bucks County jail. No attorney was listed on court papers.
