5 children found in vehicle in Philly market lot

Police say five children were taken to a hospital to be checked out after they were found locked in a vehicle in a supermarket parking lot in northeast Philadelphia.

A police spokeswoman said a woman was also taken to the police special victims unit for investigation after the 10:45 a.m. Tuesday incident in the Port Richmond section of the city.

Police said the children were taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for evaluation after they were found in the vehicle in the ShopRite parking lot.

But WPVI-TV reports that investigators said that the vehicle was running and the air conditioner was on. It’s unclear how long they were in the vehicle.
