    Check out these four events going on for families throughout the weekend. If you have middle school students, be sure to check out the Philly High School Fair on Saturday.

     

    Arden Theatre Community Day at Hamilton Family Arts Center

    Sunday, Nov. 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Hamilton Family Arts Center, 62 N. 2nd St.

    Check out the Arden’s new drama school. Meet faculty and take a drama class for free. Join in reading stories with your favorite Arden Children’s Theatre characters including The Mouse, Cinderella, and Tinkerbell. Tour the new building which includes six classrooms, a rehearsal hall, an 80-seat studio theatre, lobby, parent lounge, a resource center, and a crafts studio for construction of set and props.

    Philadelphia International Children’s Film Festival

    Friday, Nov.15 to Sunday, Nov. 17

    Philadelphia Film Society Theatre at the Roxy, 2021 Sansom St.

    Enjoy a wide variety of films representing funny, poignant and captivating films for children ages 3 to 18. There will be activities for children of all ages on Sunday, Nov. 17 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. including a red carpet walk, a stop-motion workshop and caricature artists. The Philadelphia Film Society will be selling raffle tickets for donated gift baskets with movie fun packs and tickets to shows at the Academy of Music and Prince Music Theatre.

    Saturday, Nov. 16, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    Drexel University’s Armory, 33rd and Market

    Come and explore your high school options, including district, magnet, charter and private schools. Learn about academic and special programs, extracurriculars, admissions criteria, how to apply and more.

    A Taste of Chestnut Hill

    Sunday, Nov. 17 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

    St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 22 E. Chestnut Hill Ave.

    Get a wonderful taste of all the restaurants and bakeries in Chestnut Hill. Program includes a silent auction featuring local wares and other fabulous finds. Teenage volunteers will serve all the food and provide babysitting for families. Live music will be provided by Andy Maher and Mickey Leone. Child-friendly food, movies and activities.
