33 years after accident, psychologist reflects on half a life spent in wheel chair

33 years ago this week, WHYY radio host and psychologist Dan Gottlieb was in a car accident and was paralyzed from the neck down as a result.

In his weekly conversation with WHYY mental health reporter Maiken Scott, he reflects on memory, and how we define ourselves and our lives.

They taped this conversation before the tragic mass shooting in a Connecticut elementary school, but a lot of what Dan says applies to anybody living through tragedy and loss.
