23-year-old woman injured in University City hit-and-run

A 23-year-old woman was hospitalized after being struck by a speeding car that fled the scene at 38th and Spruce streets Thursday night, police said.

Around 8:20 p.m., an older-model grey or silver Oldsmobile with heavily tinted windows travelling “at a high rate of speed” struck the woman as she crossed 38th Street at the problematic intersection.

The driver of the vehicles, which was said to have front-end damage, did not remain at the scene and was last seen heading south on 38th toward Baltimore Avenue, according to police.

Medics transported the victim to the nearby Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she was treated for a lump on her head and minor leg injury and listed in stable condition
