Frequently Asked Questions about WHYY’s Acquisition of WPSU

The mission grows stronger. The signal continues and a new chapter begins.

As WPSU begins this next chapter, much of what audiences know and value will remain the same. WPSU will continue to serve central and northern Pennsylvania under the WPSU name and call letters, with the same commitment to trusted journalism, educational programming, local storytelling, community engagement and public service.

What is changing is the organizational structure behind the station, with WHYY, the public media station serving southeastern PA, Delaware and southern New Jersey, assuming responsibility for many of the administrative and business functions previously provided by Penn State. The goal of this transition is to give WPSU the support and infrastructure it needs to build a sustainable future while preserving its strong local identity and further expanding WPSU’s programming.

WPSU is grateful to continue serving its community and hopes that the biggest changes are all behind the scenes. But WHYY and WPSU know that many of you have important questions, and we wanted to share answers about what is staying the same, what is changing and what audiences, members and community partners can expect moving forward.
