About the Special

In his national public television debut Dr. Dan focuses on modern day dilemmas that plague adults as well as children in a society obsessed with achievement at the expense of happiness.

During three 20-minute sections taped live before a studio audience, Dr. Dan addresses what "it means to be human in a culture where everyone is trying to live up to an impossible standard; where 'average' is the equivalent of failure." He looks at the toll the stressful modern day lifestyle is taking on happiness, fulfillment and a sense of well-being. With warmth, compassion and humor he offers simple but effective advice on how to reclaim one's humanness. He teaches how to live life according to one's deepest beliefs, to open fully to the experience of life, to love who we love fully and to have faith in the resilience of the human spirit.

Learning from the Heart: Lessons on Living, Loving & Listening covers issues such as:

  • What are the desires and fears all humans possess?
  • How can we learn to be more compassionate to ourselves and others?
  • How can doing less give us more?
  • How do we get from a child who feels awe, compassion and love to an adult who doesn't really understand happiness, going through life so fast they can no longer hear the quiet voice of their own soul?
  • How are spirituality, humor, humility and generosity utilized in the healing process?
