Quick Review: There's no escape. THE ROCK is the drop-dead thrill ride of the summer. More importantly, the chemistry between Connery and Cage is phenomenal. Their rapport undoubtedly was aided by their joint effort to adjust the script to their personalities before they agreed to go forward. The result is the wonderful interplay between Cage's twitchy scientist and Connery's British agent, who was secretly imprisoned when he swiped our country's dirtiest secrets. The bottom line: just accept the "save-the-world" thriller plot hook and go for the best give-and-take between stars since Redford ran off with Newman. If you want to learn more about HOW they pulled that off, check out my interview with them. Oh, yes, Ed Harris was excellent -- again. What else is new?
