Quick Review: See if this sounds familiar - a bunch of misfits are thrown together and sent on a mission. Their charming, but underachieving leader somehow brings them through to victory, but not before a lot of things go wrong, fall down, blow up, and make funny noises. How many films can you name with most or all of those elements? In this case, the mission involves a submarine. And, the maverick who turns out to be charismatic is Kelsey Grammer (a.k.a. Dr. Frasier Crane, Seattle's pop radio psychiatrist). There are few - well actually, not any - surprises. Having noted the lack of originality, it's now only fair to note that this is one of the most disarming versions. Grammer is the perfect choice for a captain who stands in the middle of the Sub of Fools and just reacts to the craziness around him. Once again, there is a surplus of toilet humor - the bane of the '90s. Then again, there's Lauren Holly. She always helps these entries in the Dumb and Dumber school of moviemaking.
