WHYY TV12 & 91FM

WHYY, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to operate TV12 and 91FM, the public broadcasting stations serving southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and South Jersey. Offices and studios are located in Philadelphia and Wilmington.

The Mission of WHYY is to make the Philadelphia region a better place. It connects each of us to the world's richest ideas and all of us to each other.

The Coverage Area of WHYY TV12 is the Philadelphia region. For more than 30 years, it has broadcast to more than 2.6 million households in Philadelphia and the surrounding area. This area extends south to approximately Dover, Delaware; east to Atlantic City and northeast to New Brunswick, New Jersey; north to Bethlehem and west to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. WHYY also operates TV64 in Seaford, which transmits TV12 programming to southern Delaware.

WHYY 91FM coverage extends as far north as Princeton, New Jersey; south to New Castle County, Delaware; and throughout Philadelphia and the four surrounding counties.

The Programming at WHYY TV12 is award-winning. It produces local and national public television programming and is the primary local outlet for such staples as The Newshour with Jim Lehrer, Wall $treet Week, Sesame Street, This Old House and NOVA.

WHYY Radio Station 91FM is also award-winning. It is a National Public Radio member and the producer of Fresh Air with Terry Gross, and Voices in the Family with Dr. Dan Gottlieb. These are live programs that originate in Philadelphia and are broadcast nationally.

WHYY has a large and loyal audience involvement that support and watch TV12, and listen to 91FM. Many support the stations as individual members. Now numbering more than 125,000, they contribute their financial support each year to WHYY. In an average week, approximately 1.3 million households tune to TV12 for information, education and entertainment. Almost 365,000 weekly listeners also enjoy 91FM programming.
