We are family


Sun’s sibling identified – HD 162826 is 100 light years away, 15% more massive than our sun, found in Hercules not far from Vega. Used spectroscopy to study the chemistry of the star then dynamics. Many more siblings need to be identified to determine where in the galaxy the original cluster got its start. Night sky highlights this week; great planets joined by Mercury – Jupiter in the west as darkness falls, still in the winter circle (now called the Arch of Spring) bright Mercury low WNW. Mars, Spica, Moon, Saturn align tonight. Moon jumps towards Saturn tomorrow night.
