Not only is Halley celebrated because of his namesake comet, the first whose orbit and subsequent re-appearance in 1758 was accurately predicted, but Halley also edited and published Isaac Newton’s Principia, his magnum opus which used calculus to explain gravity.
82 years ago this Wednesday, the iconic astronomer, author and scientific ambassador Carl Sagan was born.
