When Sen. Bernie Sanders introduced a single-payer healthcare bill to the Senate in 2014, no other Democrats were willing to sign onto the bill. But now, one third of Senate Democrats are in support of a similar bill, introduced last week. Among the Dems willing to endorse Sanders’ legislation are high-profile potential candidates for president, including Senators Cory Booker, Kamala Harris, and Elizabeth Warren. We’ll talk with Vox reporter, JEFF STEIN about what’s in Sanders’ bill, the push for Democrats to embrace single-payer, as well as the GOP’s final push to repeal Obamacare. Then, we’ll discuss the merits and drawbacks of a single-payer system. We’ll talk to, physician and past president of the American Public Health Association WALTER TSOU, and with MICAH WEINBERG, President of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute.
