The threatening crisis in Iraq

June 23, 2014

Guests: Andrew Bacevich, Mike Zacchea, Dan Sheehan

The continuing progress of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria threatens to throw Iraq into a civil war, destabilize an already volatile region and create a haven for terrorists. President Obama assured Americans that while he is sending some 300 military advisors to work with the Iraqi forces, the U.S. is hoping for a political vs. a military resolution to the crisis. He did not, however, rule out targeted military strikes in the future. For more insight and perspective into the situation we turn to ANDREW BACEVICH, author, retired Army colonel and professor of international relations and history at Boston University, MIKE ZACCHEA, who served in Iraq from 2004-2005 as a military advisor, and DAN SHEEHAN, who served 12 years of active duty including two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan
