Islamic militants launched an offensive in Iraq last week, taking control of Mosul, the second largest city in Iraq and neighboring towns. The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, has met little resistance from Iraqi forces as they move toward Bagdad. ¬†President Obama said Friday that he would not send U.S. troops ‚Äúback into combat,‚ÄĚ but what are the options for restoring stability in Iraq?¬† Wow did this al-Qaeda splinter group gain so much control in the region? Today, we‚Äôll get a better understanding of ISIS and the current crisis from LIZ SLY, a Washington Post correspondent who is in Iraq,¬† ANDREW TABLER, senior fellow in the Program on Arab Politics at The Washington Institute, and DOUGLAS OLLIVANT, Senior National Security Fellow with the New America Foundation.
