The uprising in Ukraine

Listen

Guests: Will Englund, Mark Beissinger, Mary Kalyna

Opposition leaders and Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych just signed a peace deal to end the deadly fighting in Kiev.  Violent clashes erupted this week in the capital city’s Independence Square between antigovernment protesters and riot police which left at least 77 people dead and many more injured. Today, we’ll talk about the new agreement and the conflict.   First we get an update from The Washington Post foreign correspondent, WILL ENGLUND.  Then, MARK BEISSINGER, Henry W. Putnam Professor of Politics at Princeton University, takes us deeper into the history and politics behind the uprising.  And, local Ukrainian-American activist MARY KALYNA about her efforts to support for the Ukrainian demonstrators from Philadelphia.
