Keystone pipeline and the energy boom

Listen

Guests: Juliet Eilperin, Tony Horwitz

The State Department released its final report last month on the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline, which would carry crude oil from Alberta, Canada to Texas. The report concluded that the proposed pipeline would not significantly increase global carbon emissions.  But environmental groups still disagree.  Now the Obama administration has to decide whether to green light the project or not. This hour, Washington Post White House reporter JULIET EILPERIN gives us an update on the politics at play in the Keystone decision.  Then, we head up to northern Alberta’s tar sands fields with Pulitzer Prize-winning author TONY HORWITZ, who followed the Keystone pipeline route and chronicles his road trip in the new Ebook, Boom: Oil, Money, Cowboys, Strippers, and the Energy Rush that Could Change America Forever.
