The New Senior Woman

Listen

Guests: Barbara Fleisher & Thelma Reese

Drs. BARBARA FLEISHER and THELMA REESE, have known each other for years. They’re former educators and are part of the increasing group of women 60 years old and beyond who are retired and are facing a potential third of their lives left to live. Fleisher and Reese set out to see what women are doing with all this new time, so they conducted many interviews and workshops, and have written a new book, “The New Senior Woman: Reinventing the Years Beyond Midlife.” They’ve also created a blog, “ElderChicks,” which invites women to share stories of travel, financial advice, learning new skills and managing independence after a spouse has died.
