Non-traditional paths to higher education

September 18, 2012

Hour 2

If you attended college, did you enroll directly out of high school? Or are you like one of the 45 percent of students our guest, writer and educator, MIKE ROSE, says took longer to find their way to higher education? He’s looked at nontraditional students and “second-chancers” – some people are interested in re-inventing themselves, some had financial and personal obstacles, or others who couldn’t find the right fit at a school or learn through a particular teacher’s methods. Rose’s new book “Back to School: Why Everyone Deserves a Second Chance at Education,” tells the stories of those who have attempted two, three, or four times at post-secondary and adult-education institutions to fulfill their personal development.
