College students today communicate with their parents almost twice a day through cell phones, email, social networking sites, or webcams. A few decades ago, parents were lucky to hear from their son or daughter once a week.  While all this texting, tweeting, and skyping may signal a good parent-child relationship, it can also hinder autonomy, something that college is supposed to foster.  Guest host Tracey Matisak talks to Middlebury psychologist BARBARA HOFER about how technology is keeping parents too involved in their kids lives.  She’s the author of, The iConnected Parent: Staying Close to Your Kids in College (and Beyond) While Letting Them Grow Up.
