Shakeup at the Delaware River Port Authority

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

delawareHour 1

The Delaware River Port Authority is facing a fresh round of scrutiny, with elected leaders on both sides of the river calling for investigations and audits. The DRPA’s public safety director, Michael Joyce, resigned last week after reports that he had provided his daughter with a free EZ-Pass from another DRPA official. Charges of nepotism, conflicts of interest and improper no-bid contracts are bubbling up to the surface, and DRPA board members who approved staff members’ salaries are now publicly lamenting those same salaries as too high. Joining Marty to talk about the past present and future of the agency controlling the river’s four bridges and PATCO are DRPA board chairman JOHN ESTEY and Philadelphia Inquirer columnist MONICA YANT KINNEY.
