Gulf Oil Spill Update: What do we learn from the Exxon Valdez oil spill?

Hour 1
The out-of-control BP oil spill is spewing up to 25,000 to 30,000 barrels of oil a day, up from the former estimates of 12,000 to 19,000 barrels into the ravaged Gulf of Mexico. We'll do an update on how the Deepwater Horizon platform explosion and BP's inability to stop the leak affects more than just those living on the coast. "TIME" science reporter BRYAN WALSH joins us to discuss what he has learned developing his report, "On the Edge" featured in the June 14th issue of "TIME." Also Temple University engineering chair and hydrologist MICHEL BOUFADEL will help us understand the future implications of this disaster. The last few years, he’s been in Alaska researching the effects of the Exxon Valdez oil spill.

It’s summer and sun is out, the pool, beach and backyard are beckoning. But before you head out, don’t forget your sunscreen and a hat. Skin cancer in the United States is rising at an astonishing rate. More than two million people have it, making it the most common type of cancer in the country. This hour, we’ll get the latest on skin cancer and learn how to guard against it from University of Pennsylvania oncologist and skin cancer expert Lynn Schuchter. And, Nneka Leiba, a researcher with Environmental Working Group will tell us which sunscreens are the safest and most effective.
