Hour 1
Men have been hit hard in this recession. They have disproportionately higher rates of job loss and unemployment compared to women. Recent figures show that one in five men is out of work. The numbers are even more startling if you look at black men, particularly young black men. This hour, we talk with DEAN BAKER, an economist with the Center for Economic and Policy Research, and ALGERNON AUSTIN, Director of the Race, Ethnicity and the Economy program at the Economic Policy Institute, about the so-called “Mancession” and why so many men are jobless.
