Mediaeval Baebes

Mediaeval Baebes began when a group of friends broke into a North London cemetery and sang together, clad in flowing white gowns and crowns of ivy. Setting Medieval text to original scores and playing classical instruments is only the beginning.  Their outstanding vocal harmonies help to portray the fairytale whimsy and supernatural allure in a theatrical spectacular.  Although the performance is storybook-like, three of their albums have hit the top of the classical charts, validating their dedication. Escape to the enchanted world of the Mediaeval Baebes and enjoy the contemporary sound of Mediaeval Times.

Could you post a playlist of all the songs you exerpted during the show? Thanks!

Hi Mikal, Thanks for your interest in the Mediaeval Baebes. The leader, Katharine Blake, writes classically based original music using Old English texts. The blending of distinct harmonies and use of classic instruments has an ongoing Medieval flair and theatrical element. Their use of different languages such as French, Spanish, Latin, and English adds to the mystique of their sound. Below are the songs that we chose to use in their On Canvas feature, either in whole, or part under interview segments. Thanks again for your support of On Canvas!

I really am enjoying the video…my first time on this site, by way of Steve K. The M.B.s are a welcome update of some music from my past. The group, Pentangle, was a favorite in the 70′s. Thank you for providing the opportunity for hearing music I have been missing!
