Families of Duck Boat victims visit the scene of their loss

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

The families of two young Hungarians who died in the Delaware River Duck Boat accident are in Philadelphia to file legal paperwork at the Register of Wills Office and to see where their children died.  Aniko Takacs, Dora Schwendtner's mother, said the emotional moment at the riverside was made even more painful because of what happened when they went to the water.

"We were down at the river and as we threw the flowers in for our children, we saw a Duck Boat pass in front of us," one of the families' lawyers, Peter Ronai, translated for Takacs.

Ride The Ducks International's Vice President for Marketing and Sales says Duck Boats are in the water doing inspections and training in Philadelphia – but not tours.

The parents say something should be done to prevent a catastrophe like this from ever happening again.
