Stars and their planets
Monday, May 31st, 2010
As astronomers discover more and more planets we learn more about their relationships. What’s been most interesting is the incredible array in which planets can interact with their star. For example, one planet is so close to its star it’s actually sharing material with its star in a detrimental way that will ultimately mean its demise. Earth has a more favorable position with its star. We consider this the “Goldilocks” position, not too far from the sun, but not too close. Don’t forget that June 21st is the official start of summer and don’t miss what’s in the night sky on this week’s Sky Talk.
