Astronomical forecasts for the new year

Let's ring in the new year with some great astronomical forecasts. First, an Annular eclipse rarely seen, but unfortunately not seen by the U.S. However, a Lunar eclipse you can see will be coming in December of 2010. In addition, a plethora of stars, planets, constellations and comets in the night sky this year. Also this Thursday, marks the 400th anniversary of Galileo using the telescope to discover three moons of Jupiter: Io, Europa and Callisto. It wasn't until later that he discovered the fourth, Ganymede.
