Friday, September 24th, 2010

New Castle County Police have identified the man they arrested for allegedly opening fire on cars driving past his apartment complex on Route 1.  36-year-old David Stanley is facing charges including reckless endangering and weapons offenses after police say he fired at least 10 shots at cars, hitting at least one.  No injuries were reported.

Neighbors reported hearing the sound of gunshots or fireworks around 7:30 Thursday night at the Christiana Meadow Apartments in Bear.  A police SWAT team surrounded an apartment where officers saw "muzzle flash" coming out of a window.

After breaking down the front door with explosives, the SWAT team sent in a robot to locate the shooter.  Stanley surrendered to SWAT officers without incident.  Officers found several other guns while sweeping the apartment.
