65 bikes donated to needy kids in Wilmington

The lobby of the City/County Building in downtown Wilmington was filled with 65 brand new bikes Tuesday morning.  Those bikes will soon be delivered to children around the city.

The bikes were donated by CH2M HILL, an engineering and consulting firm with offices in Wilmington and Philadelphia.  It's the fourth year the firm has donated bikes to Wilmington kids, for a total of 265 bikes given to Wilmington children.

CH2M HILL vice president Chris Peluso says even though the kids get the gift, the company's employees who raise money through the year for the project get something as well.  "It's an amazing experience.  We get so much more out of it than any kid or any agency could.  A lot of times when we give the bikes out, the kids are actually there, and just to see the excitement on their faces is better than any gift you could ever get."

Company representatives will join city workers and community groups in distributing the bikes just in time for Christmas.
