Police Officer Killed in Georgetown

For the first time in Georgetown the police department has lost one of its officers in the line of duty, and State Police have already arrested the alleged gunman.
A 911 call for help from a Georgetown McDonald's ended with police officer Chad Spicer losing his life.
The 29 year old patrolman with the Georgetown Police Department was shot and killed while trying to chase down three suspects yesterday.

Spicer, and fellow officer Shawn Brittingham were responding to a call from the McDonald's on 20817 DuPont Highway that there were shots fired in the parking lot.
The officers spotted the suspects' Chrysler Sebring and tried to stop them, but instead the pursuit turned into a foot chase. Police say then at least one of the suspects fired shots at the officers, which killed Spicer.

Police say they've determined the second suspect taken into custody yesterday, was not directly involved in shooting and killing of Spicer.

But they're still searching a third suspect, 20 year old Christopher Reeves, the alleged driver of the car. He's been in trouble with the law before. State Police arrested him in April 2008 in connection with a shooting incident in Dover's Capitol Park.
Governor Jack Markell has asked for all flags to fly at half-staff today, in memory of Officer Spicer.
My thoughts go out the family of the officer.Such a tragedy,I know this young man, I met him threw a co-worker who was his roommate along with some other guy. He seam to be a nice kid, a little cokky at times, he was one of those young guys who like to talk real big. (highly childish) I told him about a month ago that he did not need a gun and to get red of it because sooner or later, the devil was going to tempt him into useing it. Now look at him his life is over.He could be looking at the death penalty?
