Tech staff to turn over computers in spygate case

A Lower Merion school district employee embroiled in the laptop spying case will be turning over two home computers to computer forensics experts. A Harriton High School sophomore is suing the district for taking photos of him in his home through the webcam of a school-issued laptop.
Technology coordinator Carol Cafiero had previously fought efforts by the student's family to search her home computer for images. Blake Robbins' attorney Mark Haltzman has called Cafiero a "voyeur" and wants to find out if she downloaded any of the captured images onto her home computers.
Cafiero's lawyer says the claims are outrageous, and her client has done nothing wrong.
A computer forensics company will review all information stored on Cafiero's computer. The company cannot reveal any information to the plaintiffs without a court order.
Lower Merion School District plans to release the results of its own internal investigation next week.
