Congressional candidate Pat Meehan wants his petition signatures reviewed

It's not every day that a candidate asks prosecutors to investigate their nominating petitions. But that's exactly what a Republican candidate for Congress in the 7th district did this week.

Pat Meehan is a former U.S. Attorney, and says he wants to make sure his campaign was clean.

Meehan: Well these are legal documents, and its a sworn oath, I was a prosecutor and I prosecuted these cases. It goes to the integrity of the system.

Meehan says a neighbor alerted him to a forged signature on a petition. So far, he says he knows of only four false signatures. But he turned over about 600 signatures gathered by someone not directly connected to the campaign.

Meehan doesn't have much to worry about. He recently turned in three times the number of signatures needed to get on the May 18th primary ballot. He is also unopposed for the Republican nomination.
