Kathleen Jeanty was born in Haiti, and moved to the U.S. when she was 8-years-old. She just moved to Boston from Philadelphia in November.

Jeanty says she's been waiting for news from Aunt who was just returning home to Haiti on Tuesday, after celebrating the holidays with the family in Boston.

Jeanty: She had landed around two in the afternoon. We spoke to her and she was headed on her way to the house we're assuming. The house is not that far from the airport in Port-au-Prince. So unfortunately we're thinking that perhaps she might have been in the house when this happened. So kind of holding out, but we haven't heard from her.

Jeanty says the family's house has been destroyed. There is one positive note. Jeanty says a family friend finally got an email Wednesday night from an uncle who said he's okay.
