It's not just wine tastings anymore. The state Assembly has giving final legislative approval to a measure that will allow wine and liquor stores in New Jersey to offer limited samples of beer and liquor for consumers to taste. Sponsors of the legislation say it should help improve business.

Fred Leighton, the President of the New Jersey Liquor Stores Alliance, says it will allow shoppers to try something new.

Leighton: I think it's especially important in items that people may not know about like in cordials or in certain spirits. There's a lot of new beers, seasonal beers.

You won't just be able to go into a package store and sample anything. The stores will select products to be offered at designated times.
