City Leaders Push Obama Jobs Plan

Philadelphia officials and outside agencies are working together to help implement President Obama's jobs initiative.

The goal is to put people displaced by the economic downturn back to work. Jeremy Nowak is head of The Reinvestment Fund. He says now is the time to invest in businesses – so they invest in new workers.

Nowak: We've got to figure out how, we've got a very specific local context, so we have to figure out how to align our projects to the infrastructure investments, tax credits small business lending opportunities coming out of Washington.

Mayor Michael Nutter says the conversation is already underway on how to work with the federal government to figure out the best ways to create the most sustainable jobs in the Philadelphia area, while also creating new business opportunities for those who want to venture out on their own.
