85 Philadelphia Police officers will travel across the state to the G-20 summit in Pittsburgh. Stephen Johnson is a Deputy Police Commissioner. He says they are sending many bicycle officers to assist in crowd control.

Johnson: if you look back to our experience with the RNC in 2000, some of the video will suggest they serve a very viable function in crowd control and participating in arrest procedures and all the other nuances involved in this event.

Close to two thousand State Troopers also will be involved in helping keep order as President Obama hosts leaders from around the world at the event. The summit has been designated a national security special event. That means the federal government will be paying part of the security cost through the Pittsburgh Department.
