Parking Authority utilizes "Amber Alert"

The Philadelphia Parking Authority is now distributing "Amber Alert" information to it's workers and taxi drivers. The result is thousands of additional people looking for a missing child during an emergency.

The Amber Alert System distributes bulletins in the most serious child-abduction cases. After an incident in May where a woman called in a fake kidnapping and the car was ticketed by Parking Authority officers, the Authority is joining the Amber Alert system to notify workers about any future alerts. Vince Fennerty directs the Parking Authority.
Fennerty: If we would have had the Amber Alert, they would have known the vehicle was there when the citation was issued we would have been able to call police in and the police would have had a several hour head start that the vehicle was left in Center City.
The parking agency will also distribute the information to cab drivers. Pennsylvania State Police officials say the Parking Authority's participation will be a big help. The program has been in effect since 2002.
Great idea.. until someone like Bucks County's Bonnie Sweeten or S.C.'s Susan Smith lie to police claiming a man of color snatched their kids, then Black men are randomly apprehended and questioned.
Like Yacov Smirnoff would say, "What a country!"
