Studies examine children and trauma in the aftermath of 9/11

Two new long-term studies examining mental health and post-traumatic stress show that age played an important role in how children reacted to the terrorist attacks on New York City on September 11th, 2001. The way mothers responded to the tragedy also had a significant effect on children. WHYY's Behavioral Health reporter Maiken Scott spoke with psychologist Dan Gottlieb about this research, and about the effects of trauma on children in general.
