Healing after the death of a loved one

A new book called The Other Side of Sadness challenges some long-held beliefs about grief after the death of a loved one. The author is Columbia University psychologist George Bonanno, who interviewed hundreds of bereaved people for the book, and followed them for several years. He says people are far more resilient in dealing with grief than previously believed.

WHYY’s Behavioral Health reporter Maiken Scott spoke with psychologist Dan Gottlieb about grief – and how we deal with it.
