Mental health – the year and decade in review

As the year is winding down, a tumultuous and difficult decade is coming to a close. WHYY's Behavioral Health reporter Maiken Scott spoke with psychologist Dan Gottlieb about America's mental health during the past ten years – and what's next for the field.

I will always be grateful to Dr. Dan Gottlieb for a comment he made during one of his programs concerning depression – that when people get depressed they tend to withdraw and the added isolation makes a depression worse.
This powerful comment helped me appreciate personally the importance of being with other people and to pass on that advice to my clients.
We need others in our lives. We are human beings. We know how to love. We are here to help one another.
