Therapy or antidepressants to treat depression?

The use of antidepressants has nearly tripled among American adults in the last decade – according to federal health statistics.

Some mental health advocates are concerned that these medications are overused, and are prescribed as a "quick fix" to get through difficult times. WHYY's Behavioral Health reporter Maiken Scott spoke with psychologist Dr. Dan Gottlieb about the use of antidepressants, and the role of therapy.
