5th Delaware death from H1N1
Monday, November 16th, 2009
Delaware health officials have announced a fifth person has died from H1N1 complications. The 60-year-old New Castle County man was hospitalized on October 26 and died Monday morning. Like the other four deaths related to H1N1, the latest victim had several underlying health conditions that made it harder for him to fight the virus.
Nationwide, 877 people have died of lab confirmed flu-related complications, both seasonal flu and H1N1, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from August 30 through November 7. The actual number of people who’ve died of flu-related complications nationwide is likely closer 4,000. The CDC recently updated it’s estimate of flu deaths that have not been confirmed in lab tests.
