The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) is one of 23 medical schools asked to submit their conflict of interest policies to Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA). Grassley requested policies at medical schools as part of his efforts to root out inappropriate relationships between industry, academia, and government-funded research. Grassley targeted these 23 schools because they did not respond to a survey by the American Medical Student Association about the schools' policies.

PCOM does "have a strong policy of ethics and procedure in place," said Public Relations Manager Carol Weisl. The College is preparing documents detailing its policy and will send it to Grassley by Monday, Weisl said. PCOM didn't respond to the conflict of interest survey from the American Medical Student Association because the school never received it, she added.
