H. Edward Hanway will wrap up his 10-year tenure as chairman and chief executive officer of Cigna at the end of this year. The Philadelphia-based company's board of directors appointed current president and chief operating officer, David M. Cordani, to take Hanway's place as chief executive. Isaiah Harris, a current board member, will assume the role of chairman, as the company divides the jobs.

Hanway leaves the health insurance company on what could be the cusp of major changes to the American health system. Yesterday, a former spokesperson for Cigna testified to the Senate Commerce Committee on what he calls purposefully misleading practices of for-profit insurance companies.
