New Jersey public colleges living within 4% cap

Montclair State University is the latest public college in New Jersey to approve a four percent increase in tuition. That's the maximum amount allowed by the state budget that cut higher education funding.
Each of the colleges and universities are deciding what to cut to live within the cap. They're also looking for ways to boost revenue including increasing their summer semester enrollment.
New Jersey Commission on Higher Education chairman Steve Weinstein says higher tuition will be a burden for students.
"We will probably lose additional students to out of state because the cost differential narrows and even more importantly there will be students or potential students who will not be able to afford to go to college at all right now."
While the latest tuition hikes are a concern, they are less than the average seven percent increases in recent years.
