Philadelphia's zoning code is under review. Mayor Michael Nutter thinks the public is actually curious about what he refers to as boring but important work.

Historically, Philadelphia builders confide there are antiquated sections of the zoning code that need to be revised.

Mayor Michael Nutter recently offered encouragement to the commission reviewing the code.

Nutter:

I believe that based on your work people will actually be ordering the zoning code from the city of Philadelphia just to see what the excitement is all about.

The mayor did get serious about the work the commission was doing.

Nutter:
We have to have a code that more than six of the best lawyers in town can interpret. But we have to have a code that as a regular citizen you can read the document and understand what is going on.
