Onorato keeps blasting Corbett jobs quote

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

From Philadelphia City Hall Wednesday Pennsylvania Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dan Onorato blasted his Republican opponent for comments about the unemployed.

During a campaign appearance in Lancaster County on Friday Republican Tom Corbett said the jobs are there — but some people would rather collect unemployment checks than work.

Dozens of union members cheered Dan Onorato.

Surrounded by dozens of cheering union workers Democrat Dan Onorato said there is a big difference between the candidates.

"We actually have philosophically different views of where we think the Commonwealth should go – but more importantly what the problem is. If you don't under why there's unemployment, you have no chance to be able to fix it if you're Governor."

Onorato said the way to lower the numbers of unemployed Pennsylvanians is to bring jobs back to the state.

Tom Corbett spokesman's office did not return multiple calls for comment. On Monday she said Corbett was only relaying anecdotal information he had heard from some business owners.

I am sickened by Tom Corbett's comment regarding unemployment! I have been struggling, trying hard not to lose my home as a single parent, and would like to ask Corbett to find me a job if he thinks it is easy in these times. I work 10-12 hours a day submitting for jobs and following up. He of all people should understand what it takes to get trough these economic hardships. He should step down so we can fill his position with someone who is qualified.
